Project Abstract:

Six teams of three engineering students will each design and build two small autonomous mobile robots that will play games of "tag" in an arena. The robots must conform to a set of rules and regulations to allow team games to be played with other robots.

The games are as follows:

  • Tag - one robot is the predator and pursues the other (the prey)
  • Eliminator - both robots search for, and attempt to tag, the other
  • Team Tag - one robot is the predator and pursues the other robots
  • Team Eliminator - all robots are predators and pursue the others

The course is a major project in engineering analysis, design, development and research carried out by small teams of students. The objective is to provide an opportunity to develop initiative, self-reliance, creative ability and engineering judgement. A project proposal, several interim reports, an oral presentation, a technical demonstration, and a comprehensive final report are required.
